Mini Maths
Introducing the Mini Maths programme for pre school aged children.
I have developed this programme to be tailored to meet the needs of the individuals within a small group. This programme contains aspects of ‘White Rose Maths’ planning to ensure the areas taught are matched with the EYFS curriculum for Maths.
Early maths skills are important because they lay the groundwork for future learning and everyday life. By understanding basic concepts like numbers and shapes, children build a strong foundation for more complex maths later on. These skills also boost cognitive abilities, such as problem-solving and logical thinking, and help with practical tasks like counting objects and managing money. Learning maths early builds confidence, supports language development, and prepares children for school. Encouraging early maths exploration helps foster curiosity and a positive attitude toward learning, setting the stage for success in academics and daily life.

Your child will have fun while they…
-
Learn to recognise numbers.
-
Count objects, actions and sounds using 1-1 correspondence.
-
Develop an understanding of numbers up to 3, then 5. If developmentally appropriate, this can be progressed to up to 10.
-
Explore shape, space and measure.
-
Expand their maths vocabulary e.g. more than, fewer.
-
Explore number in a variety of ways - subitising, solving real life problems, etc.
-
Make developmentally appropriate marks to represent numbers.
